Job Development & Training
Because of the U.S. economy, EOA’s Employment Program has been presented with many challenges and opportunities within the past year. The challenges were due to a number of clients being high school drop-outs, high number of layoffs, lack of training and skills for available job openings, felony convictions and homelessness with no contact information. Even though we were faced with these challenges, EOA Savannah was able to find opportunities for these clients. These populations of clients were simply trying to survive. They need immediate employment; they needed a survival job. They needed to be able to go to a place that in spite of their many barriers would give them the opportunity to become gainfully employed. With the EOA Job Development and Training Program, EOA has been successful in placing clients on jobs in the Savannah-Chatham County community. The computer Lab staff work with the staff of EOA to help individuals find jobs, focusing on preparing them to pass employment software tests.
